In Saitama Prefecture, Kawagoe-City, was a blooming castle town with old history. In the EDO PERIOD, it was called Little Edo "Edo meaning current Tokyo", the city have to offer wide range of castle ruins, temples, historic architecture.
The center of the town, there is a Kura Zukuri archives. You can learn the Kawagoe's history on Kura Zukuri. In Meiji period, there was big fire and many of the buildings were destroyed. But, the KURA ZUKURI buildings have survived and since then, the town started to value Kura Zukuri in essence of rigid construction buildings.
There is also a famous "Time of Bell" (Toki no kane). It is a Kawagoe's symbol and there are large attraction from the tourist. It is not a fancy site, but it certainly is viewing history. They ring the bell 4 times a day.

There is a famous sweets also famous from Kawagoe. Imo (Potato) based sweets are available all over town.
It is easy to reach from Tokyo, so definetly worth a visit.
